The six heroes

Each hero has 15 cards of their own, a hero power for two mana once a turn, and a way of winning that is nothing like the others. Neutral cards are shared by everyone.

Dobrynya Nikitich

Shield · 2 mana — Gain 2 armor.

Armor, weapons and steadfast retainers. The easiest start for a newcomer.

A bogatyr who wins by outlasting. Armor piles up, Guard creatures hold the line, and the Sword Kladenets draws you a card while it swings. If you have never played a card game before, start here.

Marya Morevna

Spark · 2 mana — Deal 1 damage.

Spells, frost and fire. Board control and the finishing blow.

A warrior-sorceress who answers a crowded board with Blizzard and a lone survivor with the Serpent’s Fire. Freeze buys you the turn you were missing; Spell Might turns every spell one point meaner.

Awakening · 2 mana — Summon a 1/1 Critter.

Beasts, packs and fast mana. Pressure from the first turns.

The master of the forest plays wide and early: wolf cubs, a pack leader that makes them all bigger, and the Living Root that hands you mana ahead of schedule. If the game drags on, Indrik the Beast pumps the whole pack at once.

Koschey

Bargain · 2 mana — Draw a card and take 2 damage.

Undead, sacrifice and power bought with health. Risky and mighty.

The deathless tsar pays with his own life for everything: cards, board, tempo. Bone Warriors rise from the Dance of the Dead, Ghouls heal him back with Lifeblood — and the Bone Needle destroys anything at all, for a price.

Vasilisa the Wise

Vasilisa the Wise

Living Water · 2 mana — Restore 2 health to a friendly character.

Healing, protection and stealing enemy creatures. Long games.

She does not race — she outlives. Heals, hands out Amulet, and when the enemy finally puts down their best creature, takes control of it with the Charms of Command. The Word of Doom answers anything too big.

Solovey the Whistler

Flail · 2 mana — Equip a 2/1 Flail.

Pursuit, weapons and venom. Cheap, sly and painful.

A robber who plays cheap and often: every card played this turn makes the next one hit harder — that is Pursuit. Weapons, Shadow, an Adder with Venom that kills anything it touches, and Ataman Kudeyar to refill the hand.
